28 April - Day 10 York to Hull (Happy Birthday Tom!)

Time to farewell our lovely hosts the McKay-McGuires. Thanks to Caitlin for babysitting last night so that Veronica, Bill, Greg and I could walk to the pub in the next village for a fine feed (finished with yummy 'rhubarb fool' for me)

Morna, John and Caitlin now
(Morna and John were at school with Elena and Seamus in 2007 and 2008)

But first we had to reunite the old Curtin Primary trio (Morna, Elena and Annabel) via skype

Elena, Tiffen (yes, a Border Terrier) and Morna
(Elena avoiding another kiss from Tiffen)

Then off to the Yorkshire Wolds we did head

Gallery of a wildlife artist (Robert Fuller) we stumbled upon

... and he has a Border Terrier! She's called Tink

About to walk the Wolds Way

I like the colour of her hair

So cute

... she doesn't think we're cute though

Elena dancing the Wolds

Elena sitting the Wolds

Elena skipping the Wolds

Not a bad little farmhouse

Great roofs

Fields of limestone

We saw loads of pheasants but they are hard to photograph

Then we left the Wolds and headed for Hull via Beverley (Englands most livable village)

Where the cows have a very good life

This is the main drag into Beverley and it is surrounded by a community golf course, parkland and roaming cattle. There were people and cows everwhere having a lovely time!

This doesn't capture the charm of the village centre - England's most beautiful church, medieval gates and old tudor buildings

... the not so charming side of Beverley!

Then off to, the far from charming, industrial city of Hull to board our ferry

Farewell UK

27 April - Day 9 York (Happy Birthday Madeleine!)

After yesterday's snap back to more typical weather for this time of year, we weren't expecting a bright sunny day today - we have been so lucky with the weather!

26 Apr - Day 8 Sherwood Forest en route to York

Where else would a bunch of Hoods stop on the journey from Surrey to York?

 Hoods in the Woods.
 THE Hood in the Woods.
 Young Hood in the Woods.
 "Take that you filthy swine!"
 Move over Maid Marion.
The "Major Oak" in which Robin's men are said to have hidden.
